Ladies Retreat 2011

Every Princess Had a Crown
Rachel & Miss Erik

Daughters of the King

We had our first overnight ladies retreat this year.  The theme was Daughters of the King!  I had a wonderful time.  We started our retreat by stopping at the Wal-mart on the edge of town.  The ladies had the opportunity to run in and get any last minute items they needed, and we picked up our on-the-road supper at the McDonalds right there.  Each lady was given a "PRINCESS COUPON"  they had their choice of a free Smoothy or Frape'.  We reached our hotel at about 6:30pm, checked in, then started our evening schedule.  We had a devotion then snacks and games until bed time.  With a full day of events they didn't want to stay up too late, we maybe not too, too late. Ha, ha.

Saturday morning we were up and doing our Bible reading, then breakfast.  We had a very funny activity, We had 4 sets of 2 ladies, One was blindfolded, and had a dry erase marker.  The other had a picture of a princess castle.  Without touching their partner the one with the picture was to instruct the other on drawing the castle.  It was much harder that one would expect!  We had another devotion, and then we made Cake Pops.  That was fun!  I don't know what they thought was more fun, making them or eating them.  The hotel staff was pleased to get the extras.

After we got our cake pops put away, it was time for the TREASURE HUNT.  We had four groups of ladies.  Each group was given a card that had a clue to where there next card would be.  Then that card took them to the next card, etc....  The last card took them to the front desk and they were instructed to ask the attendant, "Where does royalty sleep?"  We stayed at the Settle Inn, and they have theme rooms there.  I was able to hide the "treasure" in one of the locked "castle" rooms.  The treasure was found and the front desk ladies laughed and laughed to see all of these grown ladies and teens RUNNING around the halls.

We had a lot of fun with the treasure hunt, and now it was time to go back to our conference room.  We ended with another devotion and then checked out of our rooms.  We made our way to mall, where we had lunch in the Grand Cafe' Food Court.  I really enjoyed my Chinese!!  We shopped for a while at the mall and the Goodwill then made our way back to Lincoln.  We returned back home at about 6pm.  That was A LOT to pack into 26 hours.  Needles to say,
I was ready for a nap when I got home.

Thank you ladies for making this so enjoyable for me!

A Mother's Mixed Feelings

Jonathan left Lincoln to return to Longview Texas on, September 5th, to continue with his college training. I am very proud of Jonathan and pleased with his love for our Saviour.  Yet, to watch him hurriedly boarding the plane, left me with a small empty sadness.  Due to a change in his flight itinerary, of which we were not aware of, we were quickly greeted by the airport intercom announcing that Jonathan Painter is to board at gate 3!  Needles to say we were shocked!  What were we going to do with his luggage?  Jonathan made a mad dash up the stairs and through security.  Praise the Lord for nice security officers!  The door was already shut, but they were able to get him on.  There I stood watching him, holding his HUGE suitcase, (wondering how I could get it mailed to him quickly).  All at once I realized that I didn't even get to hug him goodbye.    Well, he is all settled in back in Longview, taking his classes and working two part-time jobs.  Jonathan is a soul-winner who loves the Lord and wants to please Him.  Even though I miss him a great deal, as well as our whole church, I am proud of the fine young man he has turned into. III John 4 "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth."

June Ladies Meeting

What a GREAT group of ladies we have at Lincoln Baptist Church.  We have started a new series of "lessons"during our montly ladies meetings.  I simply call it, Sister Friends.  The lessons are compiled from the pages of the book 'Sister Friends' by Francie Taylor.  We had a great time with 16 in attendance.  Those very thoughtful ladies had special plans for this meeting.  It was also a suprise   birthday party for me.  Thank you ladies of Lincoln Baptist Church!

Summer!!

After such a busy schedule all year, the girls and I took just a short time this beautiful afternoon and went to the Chet  Ager Nature Center.  Boy did I get tuckered out trying to keep up with them skipping, hopping and running down the trail.  They don't stay little for very long, and now is     when we make their memories.
What a blessing they are to me.

Welcome to my blog!

Welcome, family and friends...

What a great way to share with you all, at the same time, how things are going with my family and the church.

At this time, I am a very happy mother.  I am glad to have Jonathan home from college.  He is attending Texas Baptist College in Longview TX, scheduled to graduate in 2013.  My husband and I still have 4 daughters at home.  Sarah (16), Rachel (13), Rebekah (7) and Debbie (5).  Needless to say we have a very busy life.

School is coming to an end and we are ALL looking forward to the summer.  I am looking forward to seeing what God has in store for us this summer.

God Bless you,
Tammy Painter
